Joe Deifel is in his fourth season as a graduate assistant. He works with the offense, specifically the tight ends.
Kyle Adams was the Boilermakers' third-leading receiver in 2009, with 29 catches for 249 yards.
Deifel played tight end at Marshall from 2000 to 2004. Current Purdue defensive back coach Lou Anarumo was on the Thundering Herd staff during that time. As a senior, Deifel caught 16 passes for 146 yards (9.1 average) and one touchdown. He was named to the All-MAC Academic Team in 2001.
Deifel came to the Boilermakers from Henry Clay High School in Lexington, Ky., where he coached football at his alma mater.
A native of Lexington, Deifel (born Jan. 28, 1982) earned a bachelor's degree in business management in 2004. He is pursuing a master's in health and kinesiology.
