Dec. 29, 2008

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue athletics department is bringing back the popular "Ceiling Fan" promotion for Tuesday's Big Ten Conference men's basketball opener against Illinois.

Some 1,200 tickets for the top five rows of Mackey Arena will be sold for $12 apiece, beginning at 9 a.m. Tuesday and continuing while supply lasts. Fans may take advantage of this special game-day promotion only by purchasing tickets in person at the Athletic Ticket Office. There is no limit to the number of tickets that may be purchased.

All told, more than 2,000 tickets are available for Tuesday's game.

"We certainly would like to have a sellout tomorrow to set the tone for the Big Ten season," Purdue head coach Matt Painter said. "Our fans make a difference, and we appreciate them."

The ninth-ranked Boilermakers (11-2) and the Fighting Illini (12-1) tip off at 7 p.m. ET. Both teams enter the game on six-game winning streaks.
