Naismith Trophy Watch List / 2017-18 Schedule / Ticket Info

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue men's basketball senior Vincent Edwards was 1-of-50 players named to the Naismith Award watch list, announced today by the Atlanta Tipoff Club.

The list will be whittled down to 30 players on Feb. 14, 2018. Celebrating its 50th year of the award, Purdue’s Glenn Robinson won the honor in 1994.

Edwards, a 6-foot-8, 225-pound forward from Middletown, Ohio, was a third-team All-Big Ten honoree a year ago and is Purdue’s leading returning scorer in Big Ten play at 12.7 points per game. He is the only active player in America with 1,000 points, 500 rebounds and 300 assists. Earlier this month, he was named a preseason All-Big Ten honoree and selected to the Julius Erving Award watch list.

Edwards needs 373 points, 180 rebounds and 98 assists to become the first Purdue player in school history, and just the third Big Ten player since 1992-93, with 1,500 points, 700 rebounds and 400 assists in a career.

Edwards is one of eight Big Ten players on the initial watch list.

No. 20-ranked Purdue opens its 120th season of competition, hosting SIU-Edwardsville at 8 p.m. ET, at Mackey Arena on Friday night. Tickets are available at PurdueSports.com, by calling 800.49SPORT or at the Mackey Arena ticket office.
