WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - With the start of the 2008-09 men's basketball season drawing upon us, the season-ticket sales for the Purdue Boilermakers is far above what is was for last season. As of Friday, Oct. 24, a total of 13,430 season tickets had been purchased for the 2008-09 men's basketball season, compared to the final number of 12,448 from the 2007-08 season. That's an increase of 913 tickets. "As a team, we are thrilled our fans continue to show their support and our season-ticket numbers continue to climb," head coach Matt Painter said. "It's been 10 years since we've sold out Mackey Arena for every home game, and we are getting very close to doing that for this season. Everyone's excited about the prospect of playing in front of a sold-out Purdue crowd each time we take the floor." Two games have already sold out -- the Duke game on Dec. 2 and the Indiana game scheduled for either Feb. 21 or 22. Numerous other games are closing in on a sold-out status. John Purdue Club priority single-game ordering will continue through November 3. At that time, general single-game sales will open to the public. The Purdue student body continues to be a great supporter of the Boilermakers. Through Oct. 24, 5,712 student season-tickets had been purchased, and all 1,779 spots allocated to the Paint Crew have been filled. To order basketball tickets, call the Purdue Athletics Ticket Office at 800-49-SPORT (800-497-7678).
