WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - A record number of students were present outside Mackey Arena on Monday morning to sign up for the Paint Crew and attempt to secure general admission student tickets for the Purdue men's basketball team's 2009-10 season.

More than 460 groups, each comprised of up to five students, braved the cold to line up for the general admission seats, which went to the first 1,779 VIP card holders to sign up for the fifth edition of the Paint Crew. The holders of general admission tickets will also be eligible to camp out prior to the Boilermakers' showdowns with Michigan (Jan. 23), Illinois (Feb. 20 or 21), Michigan State (Feb. 27 or 28) and Indiana (March 2, 3 or 4).

Students with VIP cards who did not receive general admission seats will be assigned reserved tickets in the upper arena, which may be picked up at the Athletic Ticket Office on Monday, Oct. 19. Students are encouraged to pick up their tickets with other VIP card holders with whom they wish to sit during the season.

In addition to the entire allotment of 5,000 season tickets already sold to Purdue students through the VIP All Sport Card program, approximately 700 additional student season tickets will go on sale on Thursday, Oct. 8. The tickets, which include all home games except the Boilers' contests with Central Michigan (Nov. 28), SIU-Edwardsville (Dec. 22), West Virginia (Jan. 1) and Minnesota (Jan. 5), will be available at a cost of $140.

All Purdue students, regardless of the location of their seats, are eligible to sign up for the Paint Crew and take advantage of the great benefits it offers to members each year. Paint Crew membership is $15 and includes the official Paint Crew t-shirt, preseason and postseason parties with the team, road trips, watch parties, and much more.

Students may sign up for a Paint Crew membership when they pick up their tickets at the Athletic Ticket Office.
