USA Breezes Past Norway in Final Tuneup

TAIPEI -- Vincent Edwards and Isaac Haas combined to score 37 points and USA Team overcame a sloppy second quarter to rout Norway 81-49 in the team's final exhibition tuneup before World University Games pool play starts Sunday.

The team, made up entirely of Purdue players, jumped out to a 25-4 first-quarter lead, but saw the Norwegian team outscore the Americans 23-9 in the second quarter to cut the halftime lead to 34-27.

USA righted the ship and ran away in the third quarter, outscoring Norway 39-13 in the third quarter before playing out a truncated fourth quarter.

Edwards, who scored 25 points in the USA's last win against Canada last weekend, scored 21 points with three rebounds, two assists and a steal on 8-of-9 shooting, including 4-of-4 from 3-point range, in just 21 minutes.

Haas was equally as efficient, scoring 16 points with six rebounds in 18 minutes on 7-of-7 shooting from the field. In the three exhibition games against international foes, Haas is shooting 22-of-25 (.880) from the field.

Grady Eifert continued his strong offseason. joining the senior duo in double figures with 10 points and four rebounds in just nine minutes of action.

Jacquil Taylor led the team in rebounds with 12 rebounds.

As a team, USA shot 31-of-67 (.463) from the field, 10-of-30 (.333) from 3-point range and 9-of-11 (.818) from the free throw line. The USA outrebounded Norway 44-35 and had 15 turnovers.
