The Purdue men's basketball team will face Georgia Tech in the first round of the 2006 EA SPORTS Maui Invitational on Nov. 20.

KemperSports, the Northbrook, Ill.-based sports marketing and events firm which has operated the EA SPORTS Maui Invitational since 1990, released the official bracket for the 2006 edition of the tournament. In its 23rd year, the highly anticipated eight-team, season-opening event takes centerstage at Maui's Lahaina Civic Center, located less than 1,000 yards from the Pacific Ocean.

The Boilermakers will face the Yellow Jackets at 5 p.m. ET/ Noon Hawaii time. The game will be aired by ESPN2. The two teams have split the previous two meetings.

Purdue will face the either in Memphis or Oklahoma on Nov. 21. The championship game of the tournament is on Nov. 22.

For the second consecutive year, ESPN, ESPN2, and ESPNU will combine to offer live television coverage of all 12 tournament games.

"The EA Sports Maui Invitational is one of the premier events in college basketball, and we're thrilled to be a part of it," said head coach Matt Painter. "Georgia Tech is a very good program. They have talent and are well coached, so it will be a good early season barometer to see where we stand as a team."

Purdue is making its second appearance in the EA Sports Maui Invitational. In 1999, the Boilermakers defeated Chaminade and No. 6 Florida before falling to fourth-ranked North Carolina in the championship game.
