WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -
Former Purdue men's basketball standout Chris Kramer will begin the next phase of his career on Monday when he opens play with the Indiana Pacers at the 2010 AirTran Airways Pro Summer League.
The league is set to run from July 5-9 at the RDV Sportsplex in Orlando, Fla., and will feature 20 games contested between the Pacers, Orlando Magic, New Jersey Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, Oklahoma City Thunder, Utah Jazz, Boston Celtics and Charlotte Bobcats.
The Pacers announced on Monday that Kramer would participate in their Rookie/Free Agent Camp, which runs through Sunday in Indianapolis.
Kramer captured the second Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year honor of his career in 2010 after surpassing former Boilermaker standout Brian Cardinal for the program's career steals record and ranking fifth in the Big Ten with an average of 1.4 thefts per game. He also chipped in with 6.5 points and 3.0 rebounds per game, while handling the ball to the tune of a 1.65 assist-to-turnover ratio, as Purdue earned a share of its first Big Ten title in 14 years and advanced to its second-consecutive NCAA Sweet 16.
In addition to his steals records, the Huntington, Ind., native finished his career ranked second in Purdue history in games played (133), third in games started (114), fourth in minutes played (3,704) and 13th in assists (337).
Kramer was also a standout off the court, earning Academic All-Big Ten honors three times, claiming first-team Lowe's Senior All-America accolades as a senior and representing Purdue as a finalist for the 2010 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award. He graduated in May with a degree in Organizational Leadership and Supervision.
