WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The Purdue men's basketball team took practice off as a team Monday, but still began preparations for Friday's Sweet 16 showdown with Texas Tech. 


The No. 2 seed Boilermakers and No. 3 seed Red Raiders will tip off Friday at 9:57 p.m. ET, in the East Region semifinals from the TD Garden in Boston. The winner will advance to Sunday's regional final against the winner of top-seeded Villanova and No. 5 seed West Virginia.

Friday's contest will be aired on TBS with Ian Eagle, Jim Spanarkel and Allie LaForce calling the action and will be available nationwide on radio through Westwood One.

The Boilermakers met with the media Monday to discuss the Red Raiders and will hold their first practice Tuesday for the Sweet 16 contest, before departing Wednesday.

1) Matt Painter's four NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 appearances over the last 10 years are the ninth most in the country during that span.
2) Purdue is one of six schools to make consecutive Sweet 16s (Purdue, Michigan, Kentucky, West Virginia, Kansas, Gonzaga).
3) Purdue Athletics is one of four schools to reach the Sweet 16 and win a bowl game during the 2017-18 school year.
