WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - After learning its NCAA destination on Sunday, the No. 4-seeded Purdue men's basketball team began its preparations for Thursday's first-round contest against Vermont in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Boilermakers and 13th-seeded Catamounts will battle at 7:27 p.m. ET / 6:27 p.m. CT, at the BMO Harris Bradley Center. It will be the first game of the second session, as Iowa State and Nevada will square off in the nightcap with the two winners advancing to the Round of 32.

The Boilermaker watched film and went through about a two-hour practice today to prepare for the Catamounts. Purdue will depart for Milwaukee on Tuesday afternoon. Purdue's open practice will be on 4:25 p.m. CT on Wednesday at the Bradley Center. The practice is open to the general public and media.

1) Purdue is making its ninth NCAA appearance in the last 11 years. Only nine teams have had more appearances in that span (Duke, Kansas, Gonzaga, Michigan State, Wisconsin - 11; Louisville, Xavier, North Carolina, Villanova - 10).
2) The Milwaukee pod is one of four pods to have all four teams win at least 23 games (Vermont - 29; Nevada - 28; Purdue - 25; Iowa State - 23). Two of the other three feature the other Indiana schools (Butler, Notre Dame).
3) Since the start of February, the four schools in this pod of the bracket are a combined 39-6.

Matt Painter finished second in the Coaches Charity Challenge, earning $15,000 for the Smith Family BreaK Thru Fund. Painter narrowly lost to Michigan's John Beilein (46 to 44 percent of the vote).
