WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Put on your dancing shoes.

The Purdue men's basketball team is back in the NCAA Tournament.

The Boilermakers (21-11, 9-7 Big Ten), under second-year head coach Matt Painter, are the No. 9 seed in the Midwest Region and will take on eighth-seeded Arizona (20-10, 11-7 Pac-10) on Friday, March 16, at New Orleans Arena. Tip time is 7:20 p.m. Eastern Time (6:20 p.m. in New Orleans).

The winner of the Purdue-Arizona game will take on the winner of defending national champion and No. 1 seed Florida (29-5, 13-3 SEC) and No. 16 seed Jackson State (21-13, 12-16 SWAC) on Sunday at either 2:15 p.m. or 4:45 p.m. Eastern Time.

Purdue is making its first appearance in the "Big Dance" since 2003 when, as the No. 9 seed in the South Region, the Boilermakers toppled LSU 80-56 in the first round before falling to top-seeded Texas 77-67.

Overall, Purdue has appeared in 20 NCAA Tournament appearances, posting a 27-20 record. In addition to 2003, the Boilermakers were seeded ninth in 1993, when they lost to Rhode Island 74-68 in the first round.

The Boilermakers enter the postseason playing their best basketball of the season, winning eight of their last 12 games, with three of the losses to the No. 1-ranked team in the nation, Ohio State.

Purdue and Arizona have met 10 times previously, with both teams winning five games. The teams last met Dec. 8, 2001, with the Wildcats winning 79-66 at the Wooden Classic in Anaheim, Calif.

Seniors Carl Landry and David Teague pace Purdue in scoring, averaging 18.9 and 14.3 points per game. They also are 1-2 in rebounds at 7.1 and 5.1.
