WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue men's basketball team earned the No. 2 seed in the 2008 Big Ten Tournament. The tournament will be held in Indianapolis' Conseco Fieldhouse.

The Boilermakers will play in the quarterfinals on Friday at 6:30 p.m. ET against the winner of the first round Penn State-Illinois game.

The No. 2 seed is the highest seed the Boilermakers have had in the history of the Big Ten Tournament. Purdue has twice been the No. 3 seed.

"It's a tremendous accomplishment for this team," said head coach Matt Painter. "Now that the postseason is here, it's a brand new season. Everyone is 0-0."

The Boilermakers finished the regular season with a 24-7 record and 15-3 conference mark. They tied for second in the Big Ten and finished one game behind Wisconsin for the league's best mark.

Purdue's 15-3 conference record was it's best since the 1995-96 season. The Boilermakers also enjoyed their first undefeated home conference season since 1987-88.

The Big Ten Tournament begins on Thursday, March 13, at Noon ET when eighth-seeded Iowa faces ninth-seeded Michigan.
