WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - Shane Nichols hit a running layup with 2.1 seconds remaining as Wofford knocked off Purdue 69-66 Wednesday night in a second-round game of the Las Vegas Classic.

Nichols tied the game at 66-66 with 49.2 seconds remaining by hitting a deep 3-pointer, 30 seconds after the Boilermakers took a 66-63 lead on Chris Kramer's layup following a turnover. Junior Salters led Wofford (5-4) with 13 points, while Matt Estep added 11 and Shane Nichols contributed 10. Drew Gibson had a career-high 13 assists for the Terriers.

Keaton Grant scored 17 points and Robbie Hummel added 10 for Purdue.

Wofford used a 15-6 run to take a 63-60 lead with 2:35 remaining and was able to withstand a Purdue (7-3) rally to secure its biggest win of the young season. Following a timeout after Nichols' basket, the Boilermakers could not get off a potential game-tying shot.

The Terriers led 28-26 late in the first half following back-to-back 3-pointers from Estep and Gibson before Nemanja Calasan's putback with 1.3 seconds left tied the score at 28-28 at the break.

Both teams travel to Las Vegas for two more games in the Classic. Purdue plays Iowa State and Wofford meets Texas Southern on Saturday. The tournament finishes play on Sunday.
