Purdue (6-2), Siena (2-7)
Purdue defeated Siena for the second time in a week ... the Boilermakers topped Siena, 81-73, last Sunday and 68-63 today.
Purdue overcame a 16-point deficit in the second half, trailing 48-32 with just under 18 minutes left ... the Boilermakers also overcame a four-point deficit with 1:33 to play by scoring the last nine points of the game ... it marks Purdue's second rally of the season when behind by five or fewer points in the last two minutes (Northern Kentucky).
It was Purdue's largest rally since being down to Alabama (also 48-32 ironically with 16:36 to play in the second half) on Dec. 12, 2009 ... the Boilermakers rallied for a 73-65 win in that contest.
Siena shot 61.5 percent in the first half, but just 22.2 percent in the second half ... it marked the second straight game that an opponent (Washington State) shot over 60.0 percent in a half and under 25.0 percent in a half.
Purdue held its second straight opponent under 70 points ... entering the tournament, Purdue had held just one opponent (Eastern Illinois) under 70 points.
Purdue set an Old Spice Classic record with nine blocked shots; previous record was eight by Maryland vs. Michigan State in 2008.
Purdue's guards had just three of Purdue's 11 turnovers.
Purdue's two centers (A.J. Hammons and Jay Simpson) went 12-of-18 from the field for 28 points, 13 rebounds and seven blocked shots in 40 minutes.
Purdue made just three jumpers (three thee-pointers) and one other shot outside the paint ... 36 points in the paint, 11 points on jumpers and 21 points on free throws.
In the last two games of the tournament, Purdue went 31-of-38 (.816) from the free throw line.
Purdue is now 4-0 in games decided by single digits, including 3-0 in games decided by six points or less ... last year, Purdue went 5-8 in games decided by single digits and 1-6 in games decided by six points or less.
Purdue had at least four players in double figures for the seventh time in eight games.
The win snapped a seven-game losing streak in neutral-site games, dating back to the 2012 NCAA Tournament victory over Saint Mary's.

A.J. Hammons set an Old Spice Classic record with six blocked shots ... in two games against Siena, Hammons blocked 12 shots in 47 minutes ... Hammons moved into eight place on the Purdue career blocked shots list with 96 (in just 41 games; Robbie Hummel is seventh with 112) ... he recorded his 22nd career double-figure scoring game and tallied a season-high 16 points.
Jay Simpson scored 12 points in just 16 minutes and grabbed four rebounds ... it was the second-highest scoring total of his career and second career double-figure scoring game.
Terone Johnson tallied 10 points for his fourth straight double-figure scoring game ... Johnson moved into 44th on the school's career scoring list past Wayne Walls and Keaton Grant ... Johnson went 6-of-11 from three-point range during the three-game Old Spice Classic.
Ronnie Johnson recorded his 12th straight double-figure scoring game with 13 points, five rebounds and two assists ... Johnson made 11-of-12 free throws, including 10-of-10 in the second half.
