Illinois (10-13, 2-8) tried to overcome its eight-point halftime deficit with a 10-3 run early in the second half, but Moore had 20 points in the second half, including a 3-pointer to put Purdue (17-5, 8-1) up 69-59 with 5:35 remaining.

Brian Randle scored 21 points for Illinois and Shaun Pruitt scored 18 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Demetri McCamey had 15 points.

Midway through the first half, Purdue used an 8-0 run to take a 20-14 lead. The Boilermakers then used an additional run, an 11-3 spurt, to increase their advantage to 31-21 with 4:11 to play in the first half.

Illinois also struggled from the 3-point line in the first half, shooting just 16.7 percent on 1-of-6 shooting. Purdue, meanwhile, sank five of its first 11 attempts.
