GAME NOTES

  • With the loss, Matt Painter is now 151-69 in his career at Purdue.
  • The loss also snapped Purdue's 26-game winning streak in Mackey Arena. This is the only the third home loss to the Badgers in Mackey Arena history.
  • The Boilermakers are 95-13 at Mackey Arena under the direction of Matt Painter.
  • Purdue averages 8.5 makes from behind the arc per contest. In today's game they only had seven.
  • Purdue had a slow start, connecting on only 2-of-14 field goals in the first 8:40 of the game while Wisconsin was red hot. The Badgers took an early 22-4 lead over the Boilermakers before Purdue began to claw back into the game. By halftime, Purdue had pulled within 12, 22-34.
  • Purdue opened the second half with back-to-back treys by Ryne Smith. Spanning from 14:20 to 10:35, Purdue went on a 13-0 run, including three three-pointers from Robbie Hummel, DJ Byrd and Terone Johnson. At 10:35, Purdue was within two, but Wisconsin took a stranglehold on the lead and never let go.

TEAM HIGHS AND LOWS

  • Purdue tied a Painte-era low three turnovers.
  • The leading scorer for the team was sophomore Terone Johnson. Terone had 16 points. Hummel was the only other scorer to get into double digits with 13.

CAREER ACCOLADES

  • Sophomore Travis Carroll set a season/career high in rebounds with eight.
  • Terone Johnson had a career high 16 points.
  • Hummel broke a tie for fifth place on Purdue's career three-point field goals made list. He now owns the fifth spot with 182.
