J.R. Reynolds is in his third year as a graduate assistant at Purdue, assisting in the implementation and oversight of the Boilermakers' strength and conditioning program.

Prior to his arrival in West Lafayette, Reynolds was an assistant coach at Southeastern Illinois College for three seasons. During his tenure with the Falcons, Reynolds had a hand in recruiting and developing several players who went on to earn Division I scholarships.

Reynolds' playing career also got its start at SIC, as he scored more than 1,000 points for the Falcons from 2000-01. He was a two-time All-Great Rivers Athletic Conference selection and earned All-Region 24 honors in 2001.

In 2010, Reynolds was inducted into the Southeastern Illinois College Hall of Fame.

Following his junior college career, Reynolds played two seasons at Eastern Illinois from 2002-03 under the tutelage of head coach Rick Samuels and current Purdue assistant Jack Owens. He served as team captain in 2003, when he was named honorable mention All-Ohio Valley Conference.

Reynolds spent the 2003-04 season as a student assistant with the Panthers prior to his return to SIC.

An all-state player at Muhlenberg North High School in Kentucky, Reynolds participated in the annual Kentucky vs. Indiana All-Star Game in 1999.

Reynolds earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Eastern Illinois in 2004. He has a son, Jaydon.
