Meet Boilermaker Head Coach Gene Keady

Gene Keady, head coach of the Purdue men's basketball team, has won six Big Ten championships in his 17 years, including three straight outright from 1994-96. He has been named Big Ten Coach-of-the-Year a record six times and is the only coach to win the award three straight years.

What is my philosophy of coaching?
To teach the players to be a team with tough love!

What areas of improvement did I see in my team this past year?
Mental toughness and taking good shots!

What must our team do to improve in 1997-98?
Field goal percentage, containing the dribble, post defense and add depth!

Who are some of our expected leaders and standout student athletes for 1997-98?

What are Purdue's strengths that we point out to recruits?
Graduate 90% of our players, win 21 games a year and learn discipline!

What was the highlight of this past school year?
Winning 12 league games with seven freshman!

What was the highlight of my Purdue coaching career?
Winning six Big Ten Championships!

What are my summer plans?
Recruit, run camp, go to Alumni meetings and work to improve!
