This week's Boys of Summer update, the fifth of the summer, finds two former Boilermaker hardballers moving up in the ranks of the minor leagues.

Dave Gassner, who reached the majors league level in , was recently moved up to the Twins' Advanced-A affiliate, the Fort Myers Miracle. The move for Gassner was from the Gulf Coast League Twins, a rookie level squad. Gassner is currently on a rehabilition assignment, gradually working his way back to the big club in Minnesota.

Nick McIntyre was promoted from the Detroit Tigers' Advanced-A affiliate, the Lakeland Tigers, to the organizations' AA affiliate in Erie, the Erie Seawolves.

McIntyre joins Dustin Glant as the two highest level Boilermakers in professional baseball. Glant is presently pitching with the Tennessee Smokies, the AA club of the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Entering this summer, 12 former Boilermakers were playing professional baseball. Today, there are 11 former Purdue players that are either on active rosters or rehabbing injuries.

Along with those in the professional ranks, 14 Boilermakers have seen action across the nation in the various collegiate summer leagues.
