WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- On the same day in which it learned who its opposition would be at the NCAA Regional in Gary, Purdue baseball also held its first official team workout at its new stadium, Alexander Field.

The Boilermakers practiced at Alexander Field under the lights Monday evening. The new stadium will be the program's home going forward. The field surface, bullpens and dugouts are ready for use, but the seating areas, pressbox and other amenities are still being finished.

Purdue called Lambert Field home from 1965 through this season. The Boilermakers held their final practice at the old ballpark on Tuesday, May 22 before leaving for the Big Ten Tournament in Columbus.

Purdue is expected to hold workouts at both Alexander Field and the U.S. Steel Yard in Gary this week in preparation for the NCAA Regional, which begins Friday.

Tickets for Regional games go on sale Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET. Fans have the option of buying tickets over the phone by calling the RailCats' ticket office at 219-882-2255 or via an online ticketing option (more info coming Tuesday).
