WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Back in the Midwest fresh off a thrilling 10-run ninth inning rally to win the finale of a series at UCLA, Purdue baseball begins the final homestand at Lambert Field Wednesday.

The Boilermakers (35-9, 14-4 Big Ten) will play five times at Lambert Field from May 9-15. The homestand represents the final games at Purdue's home field since 1965. Alexander Field, the program's new stadium, will be formally finished this summer.

The Boilermakers enter the week with a three-game lead on second-place Indiana (11-7 Big Ten) in the Big Ten standings. Purdue hosts Michigan this weekend for a three-game conference series. A sweep of the Wolverines or a series win coupled with one loss by the Hoosiers at Northwestern would assure the Boilers at least a share of the Big Ten title, the program's first since 1909.

The five-game homestand begins Wednesday with a 4 p.m. midweek date against Illinois-Chicago. A large group of baseball alumni representing six decades of Purdue teams will be recognized at approximately 11:15 a.m. Saturday before game two of the Michigan series. The middle game of the weekend set is slated to begin at 12:05 p.m. and will be televised live on the Big Ten Network.

The final game at Lambert Field is expected to be Tuesday, May 15. It will be Senior Recognition Day, with 15 seniors being honored for their contributions to Purdue baseball prior to the 4 p.m. first pitch against Butler.

The Boilermakers are 9-2 at Lambert Field this season and will have the opportunity to establish a new single-season wins record at home this week. The 1986 and 2011 teams won 37 games.

Purdue's busy week begins Tuesday with a 6 p.m. midweek game against IPFW at Minor League Baseball stadium Parkview Field in Downtown Fort Wayne.
