The Boilermakers and Wolverines have met 184 times on the baseball diamond in a series that dates back to 1893 ... Michigan leads the all-time series 132-52 and has won the last six straight.

The Wolverines defeated Central Michigan 13-7 on Wednesday after opening league play by winning two of three from Indiana in Bloomington ... As a team the Wolverines are hitting .329 and averaging 8.5 runs, 12.1 hits and 7.7 RBIs per game this season ... A Team Effort
The Boilermaker offense has truly been a team affair this season. Purdue has 10 players with 13 or more runs scored, eight different players with 10 or more RBIs and 14 players have teamed up to hit at least one of Purdue's 29 home runs this season.

Doing the Streak
Freshman Kevin Plawecki has the longest active hitting streak at eight straight contests, while classmate Brad Schreiber and senior Nick Overmyer are nipping at his heels with twin seven-game streaks. Plawecki is batting .424 (14 for 33) with three doubles, four home runs, 10 RBIs and 11 runs scored during his streak which dates back to March 26. Schreiber is 8 for 21 (.381) with two doubles, a triple, a homer, three RBIs and three runs scored during his seven-game streak and Overmyer is batting .481 (13 for 27) with two doubles, three home runs, nine RBIs and eight runs scored during his streak.

Fab Frosh
Purdue's freshmen class has gotten off to a nice collegiate start. Infielder Cameron Perkins, catcher Kevin Plawecki, DH Brad Schreiber, first baseman Angelo Cianfrocco and outfielder Stephen Talbott have combined for 104 hits (34 percent of the team total), 28 doubles (47%), three triples (27%), 13 home runs (45%) and 70 RBIs (38%). The quintet is hitting .339 as a class.

Grand Theft
Senior Jon Moore is looking to make his way into the all-time top 10 in Purdue history for stolen bases. The fifth-year outfielder has a team-high 14 steals in 16 attempts this season and he is 36 for 44 in his career. His four-year total mark is currently the 13th best effort by an individual at Purdue and he is just five stolen bases shy of moving into a tie with David Blomberg (1998-2001) for 10th on the list. Dave Scheitlin in the Boilermakers' all-time best thief, stealing 70 bases from 1988-91 ... Teammate Tyler Spillner is vying with Moore for the most steals this season. Spillner is one swipe behind Moore, with 13 successful steals in 17 attempts.

Come On Over
Since moving into the starting lineup on March 17, infielder Nick Overmyer has gone on a tear. The senior is hitting .393 (22 for 56) with four doubles, four homers, 12 RBIs and 17 runs scored in the 15 games since his return to the regular lineup.

Making History
Senior right-hander Matt Bischoff, the reigning Big Ten Pitcher of the Week, is just 26 strikeouts shy of tying Chris Bloomer (1994-97) for the most Ks in school history. Bischoff's 231 career punchouts is already second as he moved past Jason Smith (222 Ks 1990-93) with a 10-strikeout performance against Minnesota last Friday ... Bischoff tallied his third career Big Ten POW honors after limiting the Gophers to two runs on six hits in nine innings of work. He did not issue a walk during a start for the second time in five starts this season and the 12th time in 39 career starts.

The Decider
Dating back to last season junior Matt Morgan has been the determining factor in five league series for the Boilermakers. The right-hander went 5-0 in the rubber game of tied conference series and he was on pace to continue that streak with a solid 7 1/3-inning outing against Minnesota last weekend. He was in line for the win against the Gophers, allowing just two runs on six hits with seven Ks and one walk, but the Boiler bullpen gave up seven runs over the final 1 2/3 innings in a 9-7 Purdue loss.
