WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- A frigid wind chill coupled with temperatures in the 20s have forced the cancellation of Tuesday's Purdue-UIC baseball game, which was slated to be the inaugural contest played at the Boilermakers' new Alexander Field stadium.
Although the teams are also scheduled to play April 24 in West Lafayette, Tuesday's game is unlikely to be made up. Purdue head coach Doug Schreiber said he was looking into adding two home midweek games to the schedule for later in the season. More information will be made available when those game additions are finalized.
The Boilermakers will now play their first game at their new stadium Friday, March 22 against Ohio State. It will be the Big Ten Conference opener for both teams. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. Friday.
Tickets for Tuesday's canceled game can be redeemed for tickets to any future game at Alexander Field this season, provided there are tickets available for that future game. Visit the Purdue ticket office at Mackey Arena or call 765-494-3194 for more information about redeeming tickets for a canceled game.
