CHILLICOTHE, Ohio - The Purdue Boilermakers will have to wait another day for their chance to break into the win column as Friday's contest with Ohio University was postponed due to rain in Chillicothe, Ohio.
Originally scheduled to begin on Thursday, March 13, the four-game series was postponed a day due to poor field conditions in Athens - the home of Ohio University. The postponement was accompanied by a relocation of the series from Athens to V.A. Memorial Stadium in Chillicothe, Ohio.
Friday's 4 p.m. game looked as if it might be delayed, but an executive decision by OU officials bumped the contest, forcing the teams into doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday.
The twinbills on Saturday and Sunday are scheduled to begin at noon, and all games will be nine-inning affairs.
During its Spring Break trip, the Boilermakers have had a four-game weekend vs. Kentucky delayed due to snow, and now have had a four-game series with Ohio delayed. Purdue and UK were scheduled to play single games on Friday, March 7, through Monday, March 10 - but ended up playing only three games on Sunday (one game) and Monday (two games).
Purdue is scheduled to begin the home portion of the 2008 season on March 22 at Lambert Field vs. Western Illinois. That series will begin with a Saturday doubleheader at noon and will conclude with a 1 p.m. contest on Sunday, March 23.
