CHICAGO -- Consistent rain showers overnight Saturday and into Sunday morning have forced the cancellation of Sunday's Purdue-UIC baseball series finale.

With the two teams set to play twice again later this season for midweek action in West Lafayette, there is a chance the game could be made up at Alexander Field. A doubleheader on April 24 is the most likely scenario if the game is rescheduled.

The Flames will be the opponent for the first regular-season game in Alexander Field history. That game is set for Tuesday, March 19.

Purdue and UIC split the abbreviated two-game series this weekend in Chicago. The Flames won Friday's opener 9-2 and the Boilers took game two 17-10 thanks to a season-high 20 hits.

Purdue continues its spring break trip Tuesday with a 4 p.m. game at Cincinnati. Sunday's cancellation was the Boilers' first of the year.
