Purdue opens the 2007 baseball season at Foley Field in a three-game series against the Georgia Bulldogs. Georgia is coming off a 2006 campaign that ended in Omaha and a berth in the College World Series.

GAME DATES/TIMES: Friday, Feb. 23, 5 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 24, 2:30 p.m.; Sunday, Feb. 25, 1 p.m.
RADIO: The Friday game will be broadcast in the Lafayette area on WLAS 1410 AM and on the web at purduesports.com. The Saturday and Sunday contests will be internet-only broadcasts.

THE SERIES: This weekend marks the first time Purdue and Georgia have met on the diamond despite each program beginning in the 1880s.
THE BIG 120: The Purdue baseball program is celebrating it's 120th season in 2007. The program first took to the diamond on April 21, 1888, in a 18-6 defeat to Wabash College. The Boilermakers went on to a 5-2 record in that inaugural season. In the program's history, Purdue has had 19 men serve as head coach and has produced an all-time record of 1646-1647-37.
TUNING IN: For the first time in program history, every regular season game for the Boilermakers will be broadcast live. Audio of all 56 games will be streamed on the internet at purduesports.com, and 45 of the games will be broadcast in the greater Lafayette area on WLAS 1410 AM. Kyle Charters will be the play-by-play voice of the Boilermakers during the Big Ten Conference season, with Drew Charters joining the call for the home games. Purdue baseball sports information contact Mark Leddy will provide the call of the action for all game prior to the Big Ten season, and will accompany Kyle Charters on the road during the conference campaign.
HONORS RETURNING: The 2007 Boilermakers return four players who received Big Ten Conference honors during the 2006 season. Ryne White was a second team all-conference outfielder and a freshman all-American last season, batting .352 in his first collegiate season (.376 in Big Ten play). Spencer Ingaldson was selected as the Big Ten's second team designated hitter with a .327 batting average (.329 in conference games). The Boilermakers had a pair of starting pitchers on the third team All-Big Ten squad in Ricky Heines and Dan Sattler. Heines was 5-3 with a 4.16 ERA during the season (4-3, 4.11 in Big Ten games), while Sattler posted a 5-7 record and a 3.14 ERA (3-5, 2.74 in conference action).
SOUTHERN DEFECTIONS: Four of the 2007 Boilermakers originally signed with schools in the southern conferences before making their way to West Lafayette and Purdue University. Senior pitcher Dan Sattler signed with the Miami Hurricanes out of Harrison High School in West Lafayette, Ind., and transferred to Purdue after one semester in Coral Gables. Another Harrison High School product, sophomore Josh Lindblom was a weekend starter on the mound for the Tennessee Volunteers as a true freshmanin 2006, but transferred to Purdue for the 2007 season. Freshman third baseman/catcher Dan Black headed south from Carmel High School in Carmel, Ind., to play for the Mississippi Rebels, but returned to his home state and Purdue after one semester. Freshman pitcher Tony Sedlmeyer signed to become a Louisiana State Tiger out of Snider High School in Fort Wayne, Ind., but the resignation of former LSU coach Smoke Laval prompted a change in heart and an enrollment at Purdue.
FALL IN FOR ROLL CALL: The 2007 Boilermakers enter the season with 16 new faces from one year ago, including 11 true freshmen. Of the 11 true freshmen on the squad, seven will be found atop the Boilermaker mound.
