WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Robert Ramer and freshman Jordan Minch teamed up for eight shutout innings, leading the Gold Team to its fourth victory of Purdue baseball's Black Gold Series, 3-0, Wednesday afternoon at Alexander Field.

The Gold Team clinched a series victory by finishing off a 10-6 win in game three Wednesday. The eight-inning game was suspended in the middle of the eighth inning Sunday. Connor Slavich worked a 1-2-3 frame Wednesday to close out the win.

Each of the first three batters of the game hit safely for the Gold Team, highlighted by a two-run single through the left from Sean McHugh. Bennett Oliver and Kyle Johnson scored after they had opened the inning with an infield single and double to left field, respectively.

The Gold Team would tack on another run in the second inning, but offensive opportunities were otherwise sparse the rest of the game. The Black Team stranded nine runners on base, included leaving the bases loaded in the eighth, and has now left 35 runners on base through the first four games of the series.

Ramer gave up at least one hit in each of his four innings but still managed to keep the Black Team off the scoreboard. He pitched over back-to-back two-out singles from Kyle Wood and Angelo Cianfrocco in the first inning, a leadoff single from Stephen Talbott in the second and a one-out double by Jack Picchiotti in the third.

Minch retired the first seven batters he faced and did not give up a hit in his four scoreless frames. He loaded the bases with two walks and a hit batsman in the eighth, but retired two of Purdue's veteran hitters, Cianfrocco and Talbott, to close out the win.

For the Black Team, Pat Gannon gave up an RBI infield single to the first batter he faced (Oliver), but then strung together four consecutive 1-2-3 innings. He gave up singles to Conner Hudnall and Patrick Kenney in the seventh, but also induced a 5-4-3 double play in between the two hits.

The fifth and final game of the Black and Gold Series is slated for 6:50 p.m. Thursday. The program's ring ceremony and dinner honoring the 2012 Big Ten Championship team is Friday evening at Alexander Field.
