WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Bennett Oliver, Sean McHugh and Conner Hudnall each recorded a pair of RBI, leading the way as the Gold Team scored in four of the seven innings it batted en route to a 7-2 victory in game two of Purdue baseball's Black and Gold Series Friday evening at Alexander Field.

The Gold Team took a 2-0 lead in the five-game intrasquad series. Game three is set for Sunday at 2:20 p.m. Games four and five are Tuesday and Thursday. All games are open to the public.

The Black Team had a 12-11 advantage in hits but left 11 runners on base. Black stranded at least two base runners in four frames and hit into an inning-ending double play in the sixth.

McHugh finished the night 3-for-4, singling in his final three at-bats and driving in a run in the third and seventh innings. Stefano Belmonte and Oliver also had two hits apiece for the Gold Team. Brandon Krieg, Kyle Wood and Mike Mullen each recorded a pair of hits for the Black Team.

Brett Andrzejewski relieved Gold Team starter Mike Gaglianese (3 1/3 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 3 K) with runners on first and second and one out in the fourth inning. Andrzejewski retired the first six batters he faced and also induced the inning-ending 4-6-3 double play in the sixth.

Meanwhile, the Gold Team scored three times in bottom of the fourth to extend its 2-1 lead to 5-1. Kyle Bischoff doubled home the first run of the frame and Oliver delivered a two-out, two-run single.

Kyle Upp pitched well in relief for the Black Team, working two innings of one-hit relief. He retired five consecutive batters after giving up a leadoff single in the fifth.

Jack Picchiotti and Steve Maniago recorded two-out RBI singles to drive in the Black Team's two runs on the night.
