Final Stats

HOMESTEAD, Fla. - The Boilermaker baseball team evened its record at 1-1, pounding Detroit 14-3 Friday afternoon.

Purdue jumped out to an early lead on an Andy Remple two-run home run in the top of the first. The Boilermakers tacked on seven runs in the top of the second behind three hits and two Titan errors.

Detroit pushed across three unearned runs in the bottom of the seventh to tighten the score to 9-3 on two errors. The Boilermakers responded with five runs in the top of the ninth, highlighted by a two-run home run by John Manuel.

Purdue pitcher Luke Howard recorded the win, pitching six innings of shutout ball. Offensively, the Boilermakers were again led by Simon Klink, who went 3-for-4 after going 4-for-5 against Pittsburgh Friday night. Remple went 2-for-4 with three RBI, while Manuel was 4-for-5.

The Boilermakers will be back in action at 7 p.m. against Boston College, who enters the game 0-3.
