Box Score

ATHENS, Ga. - Purdue and Georgia traded shutouts on Saturday in a doubleheader at Foley Field. The Boilermakers defeated the Bulldogs 5-0 in the early contest before Georgia blanked Purdue 2-0 in the nightcap.

Ricky Heines (1-0) pitched a gem on Saturday for Purdue, tossing a complete-game shutout in the 5-0 defeat of the Bulldogs. Heines limited UGA to five hits (all singles) while striking out five against zero walks.

Purdue's shutout of Georgia marked the first the Bulldogs were blanked in 96 games, dating back to the Mississippi State series in 2005.

Purdue opened the first game with a run in the first inning when Jordan Comadena scored from third base on a doubleplay ball. The Boilermakers added three runs in the second on a sacrifice fly by John Cummins, an RBI single by Jon Moore and a run-scoring double by Jordan Comadena.

Purdue tacked on an insurance run in the seventh inning on Ryne White's RBI single.

In Game Two, Purdue and Georgia exchanged scoreless innings until the sixth inning when the Bulldogs' Ryan Piesel doubled in a run. Piesel added an RBI single in the seventh to give Georgia a 2-0 advantage, a lead UGA would not relinquish.

Tony Sedlmeyer was hit with the loss in his first collegiate game, allowing one run on five hits in five-plus innings.

All three games in the Purdue-Georgia series were shutouts.

Purdue returns to the diamond on Friday, March 2, for the start of a three-game series against Western Kentucky.
