McHugh started 50 of the 51 games, all but the April 9 game at Indiana State... selected as team MVP and offensive player of the year... led the team with a .298 batting average, 59 hits, 16 extra-base hits, 31 RBI and seven sacrifice bunts... made 41 starts at third base, seven at catcher and two at shortstop... batted first through third in the lineup in 46 of his 50 starts... batted leadoff as the starting catcher in both games of the doubleheader split at Evansville, becoming the first Purdue catcher to bat leadoff since 2007... had a 14-game reached base safely streak in April, the longest on the team in 2013... contributed to eight double plays and also threw out five of 12 would be base stealers... hit safely in all four games of the season-opening Big East-Big Ten Challenge as well all three games of the Illinois, Michigan and Iowa series... finished the season riding an eight-game hit streak in Big Ten play... connected for his first collegiate grand slam in the series finale win at Michigan, the only slam of the season by a Boiler... posted his first collegiate multi-homer game as a part of a monster night (4-for-5, 3B, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 2 R) in game two of the Iowa series... also delivered a game-tying two-out triple in the ninth inning of the Iowa game, becoming the first Purdue player with 10-plus total bases in a game since 2011... also had four hits in the series finales against Samford and Southern Illinois... delivered the go-ahead RBI single with two outs in the 10th inning of the game two win at Penn State... homered as part of a three-hit effort in the opener of the Nebraska series... went 5-for-8 with the bases loaded and batted .362 with runners in scoring position... batted a team-best .348 (24-for-69) with eight extra-base hits and 14 RBI at Alexander Field... only struck out once in 51 plate appearances in Big Ten home games... opened the season strong by hitting safely in 12 of the first 14 games and driving in a run in five of the first six... went 7-for-14 with six RBI in the three-game season series with Illinois-Chicago, recording three hits and three RBI in both Purdue wins... batted .346 (18-for-52) with only two strikeouts in April... led the way in the sweep of Southern Illinois with a 5-for-12 series... finished the Iowa series 6-for-12 with no strikeouts to cap a month of May in which he batted .333 (15-for-45) with six extra-base hits and eight RBI.

2012 Season
McHugh played in 30 games, starting 19 times... started games at catcher (10), designated hitter (6) and first base (3)... started five of the team's final nine games at designated hitter, including two of the three games at the NCAA Regionals... hit the dramatic two-out, game-tying home run in the ninth inning of the win against Indiana State in the final game in the history of Lambert Field... also hit a grand slam in game two at Wichita State and a solo shot in the game one win at Iowa... played a key role in the 10-run ninth inning rally in the finale of the UCLA series, drawing a walk and scoring the first run of the inning and later knocking in the go-ahead run with a two-out single... recorded 10 extra-base hits and 24 RBI in only 82 at-bats... recorded 18 of his 24 RBI with two outs... batted .433 with runners in scoring position and .424 with two outs... batted .400 with runners on base and as a leadoff man... hit safely and knocked in a run in five straight games in April... also reached base safely in 12 consecutive games... started the majority of the midweek games behind the plate, batting .385 with five extra-base hits and nine RBI... went 7-for-14 with three extra-base hits and six RBI at home... batted .429 with four extra-base hits and six RBI in May... doubled twice in a three-hit effort in the home win against Illinois-Chicago... tripled in wins against Southern Miss and Murray State... delivered a two-out, two-run single in the eighth inning of the IPFW win to blow the game open... played for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox of the Cape Cod League over the summer.

2011 Season
McHugh played in 22 games, starting nine times... made starts at designed hitter (six), first base (two) and catcher (one)... delivered a game-winning single with two outs in the 12th inning of the walk-off victory against Indiana... became the first Boiler to record a walk-off hit as a pinch hitter since 2006... connected for a two-run homer at Belmont for his first collegiate hit... also hit the first home run of the season at Lambert Field, a solo shot in the midweek win against Wabash... one of three players on the team in 2011 that walked (eight) more than he struck out (five)... went 1-for-3 as a pinch hitter... recorded seven of his eight walks in true road games... started Big Ten games against Minnesota, Michigan, Penn State, Indiana and Michigan State... saw action in the outfield in the Morehead State series, walking and scoring a run in the series finale... went 2-for-3 with his home run and two runs scored as the starting DH at Belmont... doubled and homered, driving in three runs, as the starting catcher in the Wabash win... singled and walked as the starting first baseman in the finale of the Minnesota series... drew a walk as part of the starting lineup in Big Ten games against Michigan and Penn State.
