2014 Season
Academic All-Big Ten... Podkul pitched in 10 games and started seven times... started games against Tennessee, LSU, San Diego State, Illinois-Chicago, Indiana, Minnesota and Iowa... missed a month from mid-March to mid-April due to injury... struck out a career-high seven of six innings of two-hit ball in midweek start against UIC... surrendered just one unearned run on four hits over six innings in series finale at Minnesota, his top weekend start of the season... made relief appearances against Rice, Michigan and Ohio State... worked at least two scoreless innings of relief against Michigan and Ohio State... struck out 11 over 10 2/3 scoreless innings in three April appearances... started the series opener at Indiana. Academic All-Big Ten... Redshirted after having offseason elbow surgery.

2012 Season
Podkul pitched in 12 games, making nine starts... started the big midweek wins against Missouri State and Louisville... later joined the weekend rotation in time for the series at Northwestern in early April... honored as the team's Newcomer of the Year Award winner... made six of his nine starts in Big Ten play... Purdue went 6-3 in the games he started... worked six innings of no-hit ball, surrendered one run, in his home debut against Louisville, helping lead the Boilers to a nice résumé win in the final home opener in the history of Lambert Field... struck out a season-high six en route to earning his first college win with six innings of three-run ball in the finale of the Northwestern series... helped lead Purdue to a key rubber game win at Nebraska with 5 1/3 innings of three-run ball, earning another win... impressed in his starting debut at Missouri State, keeping the Bears off the scoreboard until the fifth inning while surrendering only two hits over 4 1/3 innings... gave up only two hits and one earned run while not issuing a walk over 6 1/3 innings in another quality start in the finale of the Illinois series... worked 2 2/3 innings of one-run relief in the finale of the Penn State series in what turned out to be his final relief appearance of the year.

High School
Podkul was a three-year varsity letter-winner at La Porte High School... First Team All-State and Duneland Athletic Conference MVP as a senior after compiling a 1.33 ERA and striking out 123 batters in 74 innings pitched... La Porte County Herald Argus Area Player of the Year was an Indiana North/South All-Star Game selection... compiled an 8-2 record with 79 strikeouts and a 1.49 ERA in 53 1/3 innings pitched as a junior, helping lead La Porte to conference and sectional titles... went 4-2 with a 1.90 ERA as a sophomore... principal's honor roll student every semester of high school graduated with a 3.98 GPA... four-year winner of the academic excellence award... National Honor Society member served on the Duneland Conference Athlete Advisory Council.

Full name is Connor Michael Podkul... born May 21, 1993 in La Porte... son of Richard and Kathy Podkul... family also includes older sister Morgan, who plays volleyball at Hillsdale College in Michigan... majoring in selling and sales management.
