2012 Season Podkul pitched in 12 games, making nine starts... started the big midweek wins against Missouri State and Louisville... later joined the weekend rotation in time for the series at Northwestern in early April... honored as the team's Newcomer of the Year Award winner... made six of his nine starts in Big Ten play... La Porte County Herald Argus Area Player of the Year was an Indiana North/South All-Star Game selection... compiled an 8-2 record with 79 strikeouts and a 1.49 ERA in 53 1/3 innings pitched as a junior, helping lead La Porte to conference and sectional titles... went 4-2 with a 1.90 ERA as a sophomore... principal's honor roll student every semester of high school graduated with a 3.98 GPA... four-year winner of the academic excellence award...
