Mascarello pitched in 10 games and started three times ... earned the victory in game two of the Missouri series with six innings of two-run ball ... also started the home game against Illinois State and the middle game of the Michigan series ... .203 batting average against in true road games was tops on the team ... limited left-handed hitters to a .174 average (4-for-23) ... tough with two outs in an inning, limiting hitters to a .212 average ... allowed only two of eight inherited base runners to score ... impressed his season debut, striking out a career-high eight over 5 2/3 innings of one-run relief in game one at Eastern Kentucky ... that outing led to a strong overall showing in March, compiling a 1.80 ERA and .189 batting average against over 20 innings pitched ... gave up only one earned run over seven innings, striking out five while not issuing a walk in his start against Illinois State ... worked six innings of two-run ball in his win his win at Missouri ... did not give up a run in relief appearances against Ohio, Illinois State, Chicago State and IPFW.
