Ricky Heines continues his association with the Purdue baseball program as a member of the Boilermaker coaching staff, joining the staff as a volunteer assistant coach. Heines will work with the pitching staff, aiding assistant coach Jamie Sailors with the Boilermaker bullpen.
Heines was a member of the Boilermakers baseball team in 2006 and 2007, where he earned All-Big Ten Conference honors as a junior. A two-year weekend starter on the pitching staff, he compiled a career record of 11-10 in 25 starts. As a member of the starting rotation, Heines was the only Boilermaker pitcher over the past two seasons to start on the mound during every Big Ten weekend series.
Before playing at Purdue, Heines pitched two seasons at Midland College in Midland, Texas. At Midland Heines earned Acadmic All-America honors in 2005 and was named to the All-Western Junior College Athletic Conference Team as an honorable mention selection.
Heines earned his bachelor's degree in Dec. 2007, from Purdue University in movement and sports science.
Heines was born on July 9, 1985, in San Antonio, Texas, where he graduated from Madison High School. Heines is single and resides in West Lafayette.
