2017 Season
Big Ten Sportsmanship honoree... served as the dugout captain (in charge of energy & alertness for guys not in the lineup) regularly for the first nine weekends of the season, but he was ready when his opportunity arrived in mid-April... started the last 21 games at third base, solidifying the position defensively... committed only 3 errors in 63 defensive chances (.952 fielding pct.) after taking over at third base... recognized as the team's Red Mackey award recipient for excellence by a senior... scored the game-winning run from first base on Alec Olund's walk-off double in the 12-inning victory vs. Northwestern... hit his first collegiate home run in the win vs. Fort Wayne in Kokomo... also started the season opener at Texas State after Logan Poisall was en route to the field due to Poisall's father passing away unexpectedly right before the first road trip. 2016 Season
Grant played in 14 games... saw action at third base, shortstop and second base and the outfield for the first time as a Boilermaker at Illinois State... scored a run in each of the final two games of the Nebraska series... also scored in the finale of the Cal series... drew a walk as a pinch hitter in the middle game of the Nebraska series... saw action as a defensive replacement at third base in the season opener at Georgia Tech. Grant played in eight games, starting the Illinois State win at designated hitter... also saw action at second base, shortstop and third base... recorded an RBI double in the Illinois State win... had a pinch hit single in the nightcap of the Gonzaga doubleheader... singled and scored in the rubber game win vs. Northern Illinois... drew a walk after taking over at shortstop in the season opener at Western Carolina... also saw action against Arizona State and Michigan State. Grant played in 13 games and started four times... started all three of the games Southern Illinois series and the finale of the Illinois series... made two starts at shortstop and two starts at third base... doubled in each of the first two games of the SIU series... recorded his first collegiate hit in his return to his native San Diego in game two at San Diego State... also walked and scored a run in game two at SIU... walked in the finale of the Michigan series... committed just one error and helped Purdue turn three double plays. Grant was a four-year letter-winner for coaches Gary Remiker and Anthony Stabile at Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego... three-year varsity starter played shortstop as a senior and second base as a sophomore... started every game as an upperclassman, seeing action at seven different positions as a junior... team's gold glove award winner as a junior, recognizing him as its best fielder... led the team in extra-base hits in each of his upperclassman seasons... also played wide receiver on the football team... all-academic team honoree... helped lead CCHS to California Interscholastic Federation San Diego Division championships in 2011 and 2012.
