Appeared in 14 games, making one start ... Went 3-0 with a 4.28 ERA and 22 strikeouts in 27 1/3 innings pitched ... at Ohio (March 15-16): Tossed four shutout innings, allowing four hits and striking out one ... Western Illinois (March 22-23): Did not allow a hit in two scoreless innings of work ... Northwestern (March 28-30): Surrendered four runs on two hits in 1 1/3 innings ... at Iowa (April 4-6): Worked four shutout innings out of the bullpen to pick up his first victory of the season. Had a career-high five strikeouts and allowed just one hit ... Penn State (April 11-13): Won his second game of the season with two scoreless innings of relief in the four-game series opener, but allowed three runs on three walks in the series finale ... Minnesota (April 25-27): Won his third game of the season in a 4 1/3-innings appearance. Surrendered just one run on three hits, while tying his career-high with five strikeouts ... at Indiana (May 3-5): Appeared in two of the four games in the series and worked a combined 1 1/3 innings. Allowed three runs, but surrendered just a one hit and finished with three strikeouts ... Gave up one run on one hit in one inning of relief... at No. 13 Auburn (March 9-11): Worked one shutout inning with two walks and a strikeout ... at Alabama-Birmingham (March 13-14): Allowed four runs, only one of which was earned, on three hits in 2/3 of an inning ... Indiana State (May 9): Tossed a season-high 2 1/3 innings. Allowed three runs on three hits and walked two ... at Valparaiso (May 16): Threw one scoreless inning in his final appearance of the season.

Was a two-year varsity letterwinner at R. Nelson Snider High School ... Earned honorable mention all-conference honors as a junior while batting .443 and scoring 42 runs ... Also had a 3-0 record as a pitcher, including 23 strikeouts ... Was named to all-conference and all-area teams while leading his team to a state championship his senior year, batting .426 with five homeruns and 43 RBI and compiling a 4-1 record with 46 strikeouts on the mound ...
