Lyons pitched in 13 games, starting the home opener vs. Louisville... pitched a season-high four innings of scoreless relief to earn the victory in the 15-inning win vs. Ohio... induced an inning-ending 6-4-3 double play with the go-ahead run on third base in the 14th inning of the Ohio game to keep it tied... worked 2 1/3 innings of one-hit relief in the finale of the Cal series... pitched in Big Ten games against Penn State, Michigan State, Ohio State and Northwestern... worked at least one inning of scoreless relief against Saint Louis, Michigan State and Northwestern. Academic All-Big Ten... Lyons pitched in 21 games and started the series opener at Nebraska... made at least one appearance on every weekend except the Illinois series... induced a game-ending line-drive double play to second base with the first pitch he threw to earn a save in the home opener against Valparaiso... struck out five over a season-high five innings of one-run relief in the middle game of the Michigan State series... retired the final seven batters he faced over 2 2/3 innings of relief to earn the win in the midweek victory vs. Illinois State... issued only eight walks in 33 2/3 innings to lead the relief corps with a 2.13 walks per nine innings ratio... compiled a 2.84 ERA and surrendered just one extra-base hit in 12 2/3 innings over nine appearances at Alexander Field... pitched in nine Purdue victories to share team-high honors... posted a 1.64 ERA in 11 innings pitched over seven appearances in April... worked three innings of scoreless relief against Rutgers and IPFW... also worked a scoreless innings of relief in Big Ten play against Iowa, Michigan and Maryland. Lyons played his freshman season at Vincennes University in southwest Indiana where he led the team in saves, ERA, appearances and strikeouts per inning while helping the Trailblazers reach the NJCAA Division II World Series... was a teammate of Daniel Sander's at Vincennes... closed out VU's World Series win against No. 1-ranked Mesa Community College with 3 2/3 innings of two-run ball.

High School
He was three-year varsity letter-winner for coach Josh Amyx at Richmond High School in eastern Indiana... led the team in wins, ERA and strikeouts each of his upperclassman seasons... also batted a team-best .370 as a junior... helped RHS win a sectional title and make the elite eight round of the IHSAA playoffs... finished his freshman season on varsity after starting the year on the freshman team... also played basketball as an underclassman and with the AAU Rip City team... academic all-conference and academic excellence award honoree as a senior... National Honor Society.
