Boilermakers Split With Iowa

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue baseball team split a doubleheader with Iowa Saturday, winning the first game, 4-3, before dropping the nightcap by a score of 10-4.

The first game saw the Boilers fall behind 3-0 after two innings only to come back and tie the game with a three-run outburst in the fifth. The Boilers scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning in what was scheduled as a seven inning game.

Pitcher Chris Bloomer went the distance, allowing the three runs on only five hits.

Game two proved to anti-climactic for the Boilers as they squandered a 2-0 lead. The Hawkeyes tied the game with two runs in the fifth and blew the game wide open, putting up an eight spot in the sixth.

Russ Morgan took the loss, allowing seven runs (only one earned) in five and a third innings.
