Boilermakers Squeak Past Iowa
IOWA CITY, Iowa - Purdue relief pitcher Jeff Rader pitched a scoreless inning of ninth-inning relief as the Purdue baseball team holds off Iowa 7-6 Friday.
The Hawkeyes (15-20) scored a run in top of the ninth inning off starter Mike Hadman to pull to within one before Rader came in and struck out two to squash the comeback attempt.
The Boilermakers (20-22) were led by Mike Rothstein who was 3-for-4. He hit his fifth home run of the season and scored twice and had two RBI. Daryl Hallada also had three hits in the win.
Hadman moved to 6-3 on the season and Rader recorded his third save of the season.
