Boilers Swept by Gophers

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The Purdue baseball team fell to 2-5 in the Big Ten with a pair of losses to Minnesota in Minneapolis on Saturday. The Boilermakers lost the first game 1-0 and dropped the second one 15-3.

In game one, senior Mike Hedman went the distance for Purdue (8-15 overall), allowing only four hits while striking out three. Minnesota's Mike Biebolt was even stronger, shutting out the Boilers on only four hits. Junior first baseman Mike Rothstein had two of Purdue's hits, one of which was a double.

Minnesota jumped all over Purdue's relief pitchers in game two. The Boilermakers bullpen allowed 12 runs on 11 hits in three innings. Junior left fielder Robb Ramacher had two hits and one RBI for Purdue.

The Boilermakers will close out the four-game series with Minnesota Sunday at 1 p.m. at the Metrodome in Minneapolis.
