Boilermaker Baseball Falls to St Joseph's, 16-6

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue (8-12) suffered a 16-6 loss to St. Joseph's, Indiana at Lambert Field in West Lafayette. The Boilermakers established an early 6-1 lead going into the top of the sixth inning. St. Joes was able to get right back in the game, and blew it out with a eight run seventh inning.

St Joseph's took the an early 1-0 led in the opening inning of the game, but Purdue bounced right back with a four run first inning, and a 4-1 led after on frame of play. They extended their lead to 6-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning with a two run frame. .

Purdue lost hold of the game in the top of the sixth when St. Joseph's recorded four runs to come with in one point of the tie at 6-5. In the top of the seventh St Joseph's took control of the game with a huge eight run scoring fest. They added to insult to injury with a three run inning in the top of eighth frame.

At the plate Boilermaker Daryl Hallada finished 2-for-4 while Anthony Grieco ripped off a home run for three scores. The team finished with nine hits on the day.

The Boilermakers emptied the bull pen in the nightmarish game. St. Joseph's 14 hits were scattered among eight Purdue pitchers. Jeff Reder was given the loss, while Reffit's three inning outing produce four strikeouts and the win.
