Purdue Loses to Florida
Gainsville, Fla. - The Purdue baseball team lost its fourth consecutive game on Wednesday with a 10-7 loss to Florida in Gainsville, Fla. The Boilermakers pounded out 12 hits in the contest, but a seven-run Gator third inning was too much for Purdue to overcome.
Senior second baseman Rod Metzler continued his hot hitting for the Boilermakers. Metzler went 2-for-5 in the game, giving him 15 hits in Purdue's last seven games. Senior Anthony Grieco also had two hits, while junior Bill Bennett went 1-for-1 with two runs scored. Junior Mike Rothstein accounted for two of Purdue's runs with a two-run home run, his first of the season, in the sixth inning.
The Boilermakers will take on Akron in Jacksonville, Fla. on Friday at 7 p.m.
