Stetson Outlasts Purdue 8-4

DeLAND, Fla. - Stetson jumped out to an early lead on Purdue, leading 8-1 at one point, before holding on for an 8-4 win over the Boilermakers.

Stetson led 5-1 after three innings, thanks mainly to a three-run third inning.

Purdue attempted to rally in the eighth, scoring three runs to cut into Stetson's 8-1 lead at the time. However, the Boilermakers were unable to rally any further.

Senior second baseman Rod Metzler paced Purdue's hitting attack, going 3-for-5. Catcher Anthony Grieco went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI.

Purdue returns to the diamond tomorrow for a road contest at North Florida.
