Talented duo nabs honors at Pepsi/Johnny Quik Classic

FRESNO, Calif. - Sophomores Erik Frei and Daryl Hallada of the Purdue baseball team were named to the Pepsi/Johnny Quik Classic All Tournament Team after both had outstanding performances in the tournament hosted by Fresno State on March 9-14 in Fresno, Calif.
Frei, a catcher, hit .471 (8-for-17) with two doubles, one home run and two RBI while scoring four runs. He was named to the 7-Up Diamond Classic All-Tournament Team earlier this season.
Hallada started every game for the Boilers at shortstop and hit .500 (11-for-22) with a home run and three RBI while scoring five runs and stealing three bases.
The Boilers finished in sixth place in the tournament with a 3-3 record. Purdue lost its first two games, but bounced back to win three out of four to close out the week.
Purdue will host Valaparaiso on Wednesday, March 18 at Lambert Field. The game was originally scheduled to be played in Valparaiso but was moved to West Lafayette due to field conditions.
