WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The football team plays its final home game of 2013 tomorrow against Illinois at Ross-Ade Stadium. Kickoff is at noon. It's Senior Day, and 21 players, three managers and two athletic trainers will be recognized during pregame festivities scheduled to begin at 11:47 a.m.

Wish of a Lifetime

Former Purdue football player Charles Heninger will be in attendance at tomorrow's football game, thanks to Brookdale Senior Living and Wish of a Lifetime. The 89-year-old Heninger played fullback for the Boilermakers in the late 1940s and will be back on campus for the first time in 25 years. Heninger joined the Marines after graduating from high school and reached the rank of sergeant before his service ended in 1945. He then attended Purdue, majoring in physical education and business, and graduated in 1950. Heninger subsequently became a high school football coach and continued his career in education administration for 43 years. He presently lives in Asheville, N.C.

Three of Final Four at Home for Volleyball

Volleyball plays three of its final four matches of the regular season at home on Belin Court in Holloway Gymnasium, beginning at 7 tonight against No. 6 Nebraska. The 25th-ranked Boilermakers (16-11, 7-9 Big Ten) play host to Iowa at 7 p.m. tomorrow, then travel to intrastate rival Indiana for the Monon Spike match on Wednesday before finishing up at home against Michigan State on Nov. 30.

Tonight's match is Military Appreciation Night, with all current and former military personnel admitted for $5. Admission tomorrow night is just $2 for fans with a ticket stub from the Purdue-Illinois football game.

Basketball Teams Set for Holiday Travel

The 18th-ranked women's basketball team (3-0) plays host to Belmont at 5:30 p.m. today, while the men (4-0) entertain Siena at 2 p.m. Sunday in opening-round play of the Old Spice Classic. Both teams then travel for the Thanksgiving holiday. The women visit Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, for games against Stanford on Tuesday and TCU on Thursday, while the men head to Orlando, Fla., for the continuation of the Old Spice Classic, taking on Oklahoma State on Thursday and either Butler or Washington State on Friday. The tournament concludes Dec. 1.

Impressive Freshman

Swimmer Filip Bujoczek repeated as Big Ten Freshman of the Week after excelling at the Minnesota Grand Prix last weekend. He set a school freshman record in the 500 freestyle, was the Boilermakers' top finisher in three freestyle events (100, 200 and 500), and swam on the team's top foursomes in all three relay events. Bujoczek posted a time of 4:22.69 in the 500 free, recording the second-fastest mark in program history. He eclipsed teammate Jan Karel Petric's freshman record.

And Impressive Rankings

Men's swimming and diving has climbed to No. 12 in the national polls, while women's swimming and diving is ranked No. 16. Both teams are in action this weekend - the men's swimmers host Miami (Ohio) at 6 p.m. today at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center and the women's swimmers and both diving squads compete at the Ohio State Invitational today through Sunday.

A Word about Wrestling

Coming off its season-opening win over Duke, the 20th-ranked wrestling team travels to No. 2 Minnesota today and visits Southern Illinois-Edwardsville on Sunday.

Etcetera

The soccer team was recognized by the NSCAA for excelling in the classroom for the fifth consecutive year, earning the annual Team Academic Award for again sporting a team grade-point average better than 3.0. The Boilermakers compiled a 3.20 GPA in 2012-13, up slightly from their 3.15 mark in 2011-12 ... Senior Adam Schenk of the men's golf team has been selected as the Indiana Golf Association Player of the Year ... The final Boiler Bridge Walk of the season is this afternoon. It will get under way when the football team arrives around 5:40 p.m., but fans should arrive early to get a good spot on the John T. Myers Pedestrian Bridge that spans the Wabash River between West Lafayette and Lafayette ... Due to the cold temperatures predicted for tomorrow morning, the Boilermaker Crossing will not be set up prior to the football game ... The final Darrell Hazell radio show of the year will be Wednesday, Nov. 27, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Buffalo Wild Wings in West Lafayette. The show generally airs on Thursdays, but next Thursday is Thanksgiving ... The Sharon Versyp radio show got under way last Monday and the Matt Painter radio show begins next Monday. Both shows originate from Buffalo Wild Wings, with Painter from 6 to 7 p.m. and Versyp from 7:10 to 8 p.m. ... Congratulations to Chris Clopton of the John Purdue Club staff and his wife, Bethany, on the birth of their third child, Jericho Esteban, born Nov. 19 ...
