WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Emma Benner is set to compete in the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky. Benner, a sophomore, qualified as an individual with the fourth best finish of an individual on a non-qualifying team. The women’s 6,000-meter race is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. ET at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park.
A year ago at the NCAA Championships, Benner qualified as a freshman and finished 104th, including 17th among freshman competitors. That race was held in Terre Haute, Indiana, the same course as this year’s Great Lakes Regional, where Benner qualified last week.
Saturday’s race may be up against the weather as forecasts call for scattered thunderstorms. High winds are also expected at about 20 miles per hour.
