WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue sophomore Matthew McClintock was named the Big Ten co-Runner of the Week, the Big Ten Conference office announced on Tuesday. McClintock earns his second honor of the season and the fourth of his career.

“It’s awesome to be able to represent Purdue and the Big Ten,” McClintock said. “It was a really hard race, really muddy. It was pretty torn up and narrow and there were a lot of top ranked teams. The race was really big and really fun and it’s awesome to again receive the honor.”

McClintock finished third at the Notre Dame Invitational over the weekend. He was the top Big Ten runner in a field that included Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio State and Illinois. The Athens, Maine, native finished with a five mile time of 24:26.5, just eight seconds behind the winner.

JR Ricker of Indiana was also named a Big Ten co-Runner of the Week. Ricker finished 10th in the 8k race at Paul Short Run in Pennsylvania. His time was 24:12.

McClintock has won the conference award after consecutive races, the second time he has accomplished that feat in his career.

The Boilermakers return to action on Oct. 19 at the Pre-NCAA Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind.
