WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - The Purdue cross country team will be back on the course on Saturday as the team travels to Chicago for the 40th Annual Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational. The race will be held at Montrose Beach and is hosted by the Loyola University.

The Boilermakers will send 12 women and 18 men to the meet. Dana Payonk, Blair Doney, and Autumn Beachy will be among those running for the Boilermakers. Payonk has finished fourth in both races this season while Doney has posted a pair of top 10 finishes. Four freshmen will also run in the women’s 5k. Alexis Hoadley, Katie Hoevet, Sharise Lund, and Laura Maibuecher are the rookies that will be competing. Those four have all competed in both meets this season, though Lund and Maibuecher were the only two to compete in the varsity race at the Indiana Intercollegiates.

On the men’s side, Matthew McClintock will lead the team as he continues to build on his impressive rookie season. McClintock, winner of the Big Ten Runner of the Week award after the Indiana Intercollegiates, has finished first for the Boilermakers in both races with a first place and fourth place overall finish. Classmate Johnnie Guy will also make the trip to the Windy City. Guy has finished second for the Boilermakers in both races and has built momentum going into his second career 8k.

The Purdue men are sending a very inexperienced group to Chicago. Of the 18 individuals traveling, 15 are in their first year with the Boilermaker cross country program.

More than 50 schools are competing in the 40th Annual Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational. The Boilermakers will get their first glimpse at Big Ten Conference power Wisconsin. Several other regional programs will be on hand including Chicago State and Northern Illinois.

The women’s 5k is scheduled to start at 11:45 a.m. CT. The men’s 8k will follow at 12:15 p.m. Results and a full recap will be available at
