LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Emma Benner finished 120th at the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday. The sophomore ran a time of 20:52.38, within a second of her time at last year’s NCAA Championship.
Benner started the first 2,000 meters of the 6,000-meter race in a crowded pack and hovered around 150th. From there, she slowly chipped away at the field and eventually worked her way up to 120th, where she would finish. Benner was 19th among Big Ten competitors in the field.
Benner’s performance at the NCAA Championships wraps up the cross country season for the Boilermakers. The harriers now jump into track season and will be with the full team when the season begins Dec. 8 at the Hoosier Open.
