TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Purdue cross country teams were back in action on Sunday as the men and women travelled to Pre-National race hosted by Indiana State. The men's side took 33rd while the women did not officially place because they only sent three runners to the meet.
Simon Rogers was the top finisher for the Boilermaker men as he collected 142nd place points with an 8K time of 26:09. Freshman Andy Mack was the second finisher for Purdue and brought home 167th place points with a time of 26:28. Dominic DeSantis finished with 180th place points after closing the finish line in 26:42. Allan Appiah was fourth for the Boilers after finishing in 26:48. Christopher Surfus finished in 26:50, one of four harriers to turn in that time on Sunday, and collected 194th place points. Blake Mills finished sixth for the Old Gold and Black after crossing the finish line in 27:08. Connor Geshay was seventh for Purdue with a time of 27:10. The men finished with a team score of 870.
On the women's side, Kayla McCurdy finished first for Purdue and 232nd overall with a 6K time of 24:08. Maria Paolillo was next to finish for the Boilermakers as she crossed the finish line in 26:02. Katie Conrad took 298th after finishing in 26:15.
The Boilermakers have a couple weeks off before returning to Champaign, Ill., for the Big Ten Championships. The Purdue harriers opened their season on that course at the Illinois Invitational. Start times will be announces in the days preceding the race.
